Initial thoughts of a Little Saigon Cultural District were introduced in 2014 by a few Vietnamese-American community members.

The idea of a Boston Little Saigon resurfaces among members of the Networking Organization for Vietnamese Americans (NOVA).

2018

january

The first public meeting held in the Dorchester community was to gather interests for a cultural district.

2018

april

Meeting with the Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture provided information on the process and criteria for a cultural district.

2018

At this public meeting, Boston Little Saigon became the official name for the cultural district initiative.

Many working sessions were held to discuss the name designation and goals for the cultural district.

A public hearing was held and city councilors voted to pass the designation of a Boston Little Saigon Cultural District!

2019

september

We were awaiting state approval from the Mass Cultural Council for the official state designation of our cultural district!

On May 18, 2021, at 1:24PM, the Massachusetts Cultural Council voted unanimously to officially approve the cultural district!
